{"id":1976,"date":"2013-01-07T09:26:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-06T23:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/?p=1976"},"modified":"2013-01-06T15:31:47","modified_gmt":"2013-01-06T05:31:47","slug":"starting-2013-with-an-article-on-twitter-and-eurovision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/dev\/2013\/01\/07\/starting-2013-with-an-article-on-twitter-and-eurovision\/","title":{"rendered":"Starting 2013 with an Article on Twitter and #Eurovision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new year has barely begun, but I\u2019m delighted to say that we\u2019ve already clocked up our first publication for 2013: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/1369118X.2012.756053\">Information, Communication &amp; Society has just published an article by Tim Highfield, Stephen Harrington and me<\/a><\/em> which expands on <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/11\/05\/twitter-and-the-media-in-europe-and-australia\/\">our paper at the Association of Internet Researchers conference in Salford in October 2012<\/a> and examines the use of <em>Twitter<\/em> as a backchannel technology for the Europe-wide broadcast of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest (as well as for the delayed telecast on SBS in Australia). The paper is out now as an <em>ICS<\/em> online first publication, and will eventually form part of an AoIR special issue which collects selected publications from the conference \u2013 a number of other conference presentations-turned-articles are also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/action\/showAxaArticles?journalCode=rics20\">online on the ICS site<\/a> already.<\/p>\n<p>The full article reference is below.
