{"id":1883,"date":"2012-11-12T10:27:18","date_gmt":"2012-11-12T00:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/?p=1883"},"modified":"2012-10-30T22:30:52","modified_gmt":"2012-10-30T12:30:52","slug":"twitter-and-politics-at-state-and-federal-levels-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/dev\/2012\/11\/12\/twitter-and-politics-at-state-and-federal-levels-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter and Politics at State and Federal Levels in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#39;s one final update from the October conference tour, before we get back to covering new work: our research into the political uses of <em>Twitter<\/em> continues apace as well, of course, and during the <a href=\"http:\/\/ir13.aoir.org\/\">AoIR<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecrea2012istanbul.eu\/\">ECREA<\/a> conferences Tim Highfield and I also had opportunities to discuss some of the recent findings from our observations of <em>Twitter<\/em> use at state and federal levels in Australia. At ECREA 2012 in Istanbul, we took part in a panel which brought together the participants in <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/01\/10\/gearing-up-for-the-elections\/\">our new Norwegian-funded research project on social media and elections<\/a>, as well as some additional friends and colleagues; our paper, co-authored with Stephen Harrington, explored the use of <em>Twitter<\/em> by candidates in the March 2012 Queensland state election (which at the time I also covered here at Mapping Online Publics \u2013 see the <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/02\/26\/queensland-election-week-1-some-twitter-patterns\/\">various<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/03\/11\/queensland-election-week-2-some-more-twitter-patterns\/\">blog<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/03\/11\/queensland-election-week-3-the-twitter-story-to-date\/\">posts<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/03\/18\/queensland-election-week-4-all-over-but-the-shouting\/\">for<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/mappingonlinepublics.net\/2012\/03\/22\/mid-week-qldvotes-update-how-the-leaders-compare\/\">details<\/a>).
